Carotid Endarterectomy

A large stroke can be a life-threatening event, and those that survive often have severe, permanent neurologic symptoms. For patients with carotid artery stenosis, Dr. Hatef offers carotid endarterectomy (CEA) to clean out any plaque and debris from the carotid artery and decrease the risk of stroke in the future.

CEA is performed through a short incision in the neck and typically takes 1-2 hours. Patients with carotid artery disease who undergo CEA are significantly less likely to have a stroke than those treated with medication alone. If you have been recently diagnosed with carotid artery stenosis or would like a second opinion, Dr. Hatef invites you to make an appointment today.
