SPINAL INJECTIONS

For patients with spinal pain, injections can often help delay or avoid surgery. Injections come in two major categories: epidural steroid injections (ESI) and facet injections.

ESI are used to bathe the spinal nerves in anti-inflammatory medication and decrease nerve pain. They are most commonly used as part of a multi-modal therapy including physical and occupational therapy. Facet injections target very small nerves innervating the joints of the spine that are responsible for causing neck and back pain.

Dr. Hatef works closely with a team of pain physicians to use injections to treat neck, back, arm, or leg pain. During your consultation, he will be able to advise if injections are a good choice for you and recommend procedural specialists to treat your pain and quickly and effectively as possible.
